Kavita, a hotel management professional in Delhi, is elated when she finds out that she is going to be transferred to Mumbai. She has been working in the same sector for over a decade and the idea of finally being in a convention city like Mumbai is too tempting an opportunity to let slip. But Kavita soon realises that her dream job isn't what it was cracked up to be when she learns from her colleagues about how their workload for the last few days had been exponentially high due to an event happening at night. She decides to step up and offers her services as their 'helper'. After working with them for a brief amount of time, Kavita finds herself extremely attracted to their boss Rohan (Rajiv Kapoor), who is also her friend's brother. The more she spends time with him and his team, the more she finds herself drifting away from her Delhi friends and closer towards his. As the events of the night keep happening and Kavita becomes extremely connected to Rohan and his team's work at the hotel, things become too intense for Kavita to handle. Unable to deal with such an intense feeling any longer, Kavita decides to pack up her bags and leave for Delhi the next day. However, the next day a now deeply attached Kavita can't seem to do anything but stay back in Mumbai. She decides to give her heart another shot with Rohan and then leaves for Delhi with him. The film's first-day collections of ₹7.50 million were the highest for an Akshay Kumar film. The collections mushrooming to ₹13.10 million by the end of its opening weekend, which was the highest weekend collection for any Bollywood film in 2017. "Befikre" had a screen count of 120 screens in its opening week, thus making it the third highest grosser behind Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Padmaavat" and Anurag Kashyap's "Gangs of Wasseypur Part 2". The film earned in its extended third week.
